Coming from Maude 1

Where the status bar, the menubar, View → History, the Assistant and the rest of Maude 1's chrome went in Maude 2.

Maude 2 has one menu, one search, one Share cluster and one toolbar per mode. Nothing was taken away without a new home — this page lists where each Maude 1 control moved, so you can find it by the old name. The rest of the documentation uses only the new words.

Updating a project

There is no dialog: Maude 2 updates a Maude 1 project by itself the first time it opens it. The notice says Updated for Maude 2. It now saves with accepted revisions. A copy of the old files is in Version history, on this Mac only. — the copy is on the Mac that ran the update and nowhere else.

A local, git or Syncthing project is always updated. A project shared through a team server is updated when its owner opens it, signed in and online, on a team server that is Maude 1.9.0 or later; the same step switches it to accepted revisions: each change counts as saved once the team server confirms it, and Undo takes back only your own. Nothing in the project is lost.

  • Until then the project is view only, and one line says why, with at most one action: Ask the owner, Sign in, the team server needs an update (How to update), or waiting for the connection. Once the reason clears, the update runs by itself.
  • A Maude 2 project that still saves the old way is view only until it switches to accepted revisions, which it does by itself when its owner opens it.
  • A Maude Cloud project is not updated by itself during the Maude 2 release candidates, because Maude Cloud keeps running Maude 1 until the stable 2.0.0. Its owner can still choose Update project, after a warning that the cloud tab stays view only for everyone until then.
  • In a Maude Cloud tab, the owner of a project that still saves the old way sees Switch it in the dashboard, under Saving. with Open dashboard.
